DESCRIPTION: This delightful little gall is formed by a midge whose attack causes the serrated edges of the two terminal leaflets to bond together and eventually become a reddish and green hairy pouch. The hairs of this pouch are ribbon-like and jointed. Several orange larvae are located within each pouch. Several generations occur each year with summer larvae pupation taking place in the gall itself whereas later larvae overwintering in a pupal state in the soil. DISTRIBUTION: General distribution throughout. HABITAT: On the leaves of Germander Speedwell.
